<B>Sudan, November 16, 2009 - Nuba Solar Powered Mini Water Yard Workshop - 
Exciting things are happening in Dilling, Sudan! There, in the heart of the Nuba Mountains,
twenty promising young men sit under the tutelage of Victor Syambi in a month-long workshop
on constructing Solar Powered Mini Water Yards.</B><P>

This knowledge will help us equip communities in harnessing solar energy to power the water pumps,
filling 8000-liter tanks in a matter of hours. The workshop attendees were hand-chosen from the
various IAS offices throughout Sudan, as well as from our local partners and from the
National Water Cooperation in Dilling, providing for a unified national approach towards
sustainable development. In this regard, this workshop represents one of the many thrust
of the Integrated Water Resource Management Approach, which seeks to maximize all the
water resources we have at our disposal. We are enthusiastic about the
impact this new training will have on the people of Sudan!<P>

<B>The fourth edition of the European Development Days will be hosted in Stockholm,
Sweden, on 22-24 October 2009. The European Development Days are a yearly event
hosted jointly by the European Commission and the EU Presidency.</B><P>

The European Development Days bring some 4 000 people and 1 500 organisations
from the development community together on an equal footing. Delegates from
125 countries are represented, including heads of state and leading world figures,
Nobel prizewinners among them.<P>

The event aims to make development aid more effective, to build a global
coalition against poverty and achieve the Millennium Development Goals.
Through frank and sometimes controversial debates on pressing issues,
such as governance, poverty and environmental sustainability,
the European Development Days provide unprecedented opportunities for

<B>STOCKHOLM, July 8, 2009 - IAS has been granted 1 million SEK from Sida through the Swedish Mission Council
for a relief intervention in Puntland, Somalia. The title of the project is:
'Drought response and livelihoods recovery in Puntland, Somalia' and will mitigate the effects of acute
and long term water shortage and improve shelter for vulnerable and disaster affected populations in Puntland.</B><P>
